A day by the Warriku
Presentation Description
This presentation will convey some observations and learnings from a Culture to Science Day that was held at Toorale National Park on the banks of the Warriku (Warrego) River. Members from the Warrego-Darling Flow-MER team were joined by local Traditional Owners and NSW department staff to meet, talk and learn about how we all view the landscape, the importance of water, and the challenges we are facing in managing both. The Flow-MER scientists also demonstrated some of our monitoring techniques and chatted about the implications from our findings. The day was a success – food was shared, relationships were formed and knowledge was gained. We even had a special visit from a family of Kurlaku (Brolga). Knowledge exchanges of this type will help the Flow-MER teams to develop better management and monitoring approaches.
